4" Variable Speed Wet Grinder
Item #WVGRIN
This is a new Hurricane variable speed 4” wet polisher and grinder manufactures by Secco USA. Your new wet polisher is equipped with an 800 watt double insulated 7 amp motor. Located at the rear of the machine, an adjustable variable speed dial will smoothly raise and lower the speed. The hurricane wet polisher is a variable speed grinder that has an RPM range of 0-4000 RPM, this means you can adjust the rpm to use both diamond pads and stock removal tools.
This unit features a quick connect, brass coupling and corresponding female connector and water line. Everything you need to hook into a standard garden hose is included in the box. The hurricane wet polisher also features a 5/8-11 UNC threaded spindle, GFCI (operator protector circuit breaker) integrated in the 6’ cord. Also included with this unit are a bail handle (D handle), wrench, extra carbon brushes and a 360° adjustable safety guard with integrated rubber splash skirt.
At high speed, this is the ideal tool for fast stock removal using diamond grinding wheels, zero tolerance wheels, diamond edge profile wheels, finger bits and diamond hole saws.
Adjust to a lower speed for optimal polishing with diamond polishing pads.
One of the most apparent features of a wet polisher that differs from a standard grinder is the water system. Our wet polisher delivers water from any faucet or garden hose into a water valve located on the top of the grinder head. The water is then directed into a hole that runs vertically through the 5/8 – 11 spindle shaft and exits directly into the center of the pad or diamond tool and is forced outwards cooling the pad or diamond tool and lubricating the grinding or polishing surface.
Speed is another important difference. Standard single speed grinders rotate at speeds of 10,000 rpm or more while wet polishers commonly only have an RPM range of only 300 – 4000. Wet polishers are most commonly used in conjunction with diamond polishing pads, these diamond pads should never be run at RPM’s over 4000. Operating diamond polishing pads at extreme RPM can cause the pad to separate from the holder and be propelled at high speeds causing injury, keep in mind you’re usually using the tool on a countertop that is waist high (if you know what I mean guys). The bonding agent, the material used to hold the diamonds in place, used in most diamond polishing pads is resin, extreme heat caused by high RPM’s or lack of water will cause the resin to become unstable or even melt leaving streaks of melted resin on the polishing surface. There are diamond tools, however, that perform optimally at higher RPM’s. Diamond grinding wheels, zero tolerance wheels, diamond profile wheels and diamond saw blades are manufactured to run at high RPM’s. These tools are cutting or stock removal tools and the higher the RPM the quicker they will cut or grind material.
Using water with an electrical tool requires the use of a GFCI. This device is a circuit breaker that senses electrical surge and cuts power off to the tool preventing electrical shock to the user.
Also common on wet polishers is the bail handle at the top of the machine, this makes constant polishing more comfortable for the user as well as allows the user to apply constant even pressure to the grinding head.
